On May 8th, the international students of the University of Sopron had the opportunity to participate in the International Wellbeing Day.
At the event, the organizers, Ágnes Stummerné Nagy, Head of the Student Support Services, and Erzsébet Szaniszló, the International Coordinator responsible for student wellbeing at the International Office, welcomed the guests.
The engaging program featured an inspiring speech by Mag. Dr. Cataldo-Schwarzl Lena, a staff member of the Vienna Pedagogical Institute, on resilience, a crucial foundation of mental health. Following this, the speaker from Vienna led an interactive workshop where participants could discuss the challenges they face as international students in small groups and explore ways to strengthen their mental resilience.
Later in the program, ballet artist and yoga instructor Alina Tarnenko taught stress-management breathing techniques. Afterwards, our PhD student Olha Maleshka presented a short piano piece, highlighting the positive impact of art on our wellbeing.
The event concluded with a delightful ice cream treat together, in honor of the Hungarian Ice Cream Day.
One student shared their thoughts on the program: "My Erasmus scholarship is coming to an end with the spring semester. Until now, I've really been looking forward to returning to Turkey, but now I feel like I'm going to miss this community, and it would be nice to stay longer!"
